The Manuscripts user interface consists of several key elements:
- Main Menu
Along the top of the screen, where you can accomplish the majority of your tasks.
This is the central portion of the window, where your document appears.
This appears immediately above the editor and gives you shortcuts to the most common style, citation, and insert actions. More about the toolbar.
A sidebar to the left of the editor, where you can view your document structure, move sections around, and add subsections. You can also use shortcuts from the right-click menu to make more modifications. More about the Outline.
A sidebar to the right of the editor, containing palettes that you use to control the content and set styles. More about the Inspector.
- Gutter Helpers
Helper menus that appear in the left margin of the editor, giving you shortcut actions to add various elements or modify the item currently in focus. More about gutter helpers.
- Status bar
The bar immediately below the editor, showing word and character counts, as well as the Outline button and Inspector button. More about the status bar.
